Economic Impact of HPEC on the Town of Queen Creek

This October 2012 report was commissioned by the Town of Queen Creek to evaluate the economic impact on the Town through Schnepf Farm, QC Performing Arts Center and HPEC titled Town of Queen Creek Performing Arts and Entertainment Economic Impact Analysis.

HPEC information starts on page 27, culminating on page 46 which states “For every direct dollar Queen Creek spends to support HPEC, there results another $7.02 that is generated or spent within the community from the events.”

Note that this analysis was prior to the tremendous growth in HPEC events, the Town and most importantly a Hotel.

Covering of Arena 3

Proposal

The files below are the October 25, 2018 Town Staff Reports relating to the Return on Investment (ROI) analysis supporting the covering of Arena 3 at HPEC. This includes revenue and expense data for the park, as well as expected revenue increase due to adding additional events and extending the event season. NOTE: this material is duplicated on the Capital Improvement Project – Arena 3 Cover page.

Payoff

The cost from the Town to cover Arena 3 was $308,000, which the analysis above estimated to be paid off in 4 years.   That calculation was based on savings to the Town in O&M funding based on increased park profit.

After 16 months of operation with Arena 3 being covered (Jan 2020 to Oct 2021), the Park revenue has increased by $310,226, effectively paying off the cost of construction more than 2.5 years ahead of the estimated 4 years.
